Teachers who register at the Adopt-A-Classroom web site can be adopted by an
individual, a business, or a foundation. Once adopted, teachers will receive
$500 worth of credit to purchase items that enrich the learning environment.

The purpose of this grant is to create senior high classroom materials or
lessons connecting mathematics to other fields. For 2008-2009, grants with a
maximum of $3,000 each will be awarded to persons currently teaching mathematics
in grades 9-12. Materials may be in the form of books, visual displays, computer
programs or displays, slide shows, videotapes, or other appropriate medium. The
focus of these materials should be on showing the connectivity of mathematics to
other fields or to the world around us. Any acquisition of equipment must
support the proposed plan but not be the primary focus of the grant. Any
published sources must be documented. Proposals must address the following: the
plan for developing and evaluating materials, the connectivity to other fields
or disciplines, and anticipated impact on students' learning.
The applicant must be a current member of NCTM and currently teach mathematics
in grades 9-12 at least 50 percent of the school day. Activities are to be
completed between June 1, 2008, and May 31, 2009. No person(s) may receive more
than one award administered by the Mathematics Education Trust in the same
academic year. Past recipients of this grant are not eligible to reapply.

Toyota TAPESTRY recognizes outstanding educators who are making a difference by
demonstrating excellence and creativity in science teaching. Since 1991 the
program has awarded more than $7 million to 826 teams of teachers for innovative

improve their skills and increase their effectiveness, students nationwide are
gaining a better understanding of science principles and methodologies. Toyota
and NSTA sincerely hope these grants continue to inspire teachers and serve as a
catalyst for lifetime science learning.
A partnership between Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. , Inc. and the National Science
Teachers Association, the Toyota TAPESTRY Grants for Science Teachers program
offers grants to K-12 science teachers for innovative projects that enhance
science education in the school and/or school district. 50 large grants and a
minimum of 20 mini-grants, totaling $550,000 in all, will be awarded this year.
To apply for funding, qualified teachers must write a Toyota TAPESTRY proposal
according to the proposal requirements. The deadline for the completion of the
online application is 11:59 p.m., Eastern Standard Time, Thursday, January 28,
2008.

The Walt Disney Co. is searching for 45 dynamic, creative teachers willing to go
the extra step to inspire, motivate, and educate students for the company's 2005
DisneyHand Teacher Awards. An Outstanding Teacher of the Year will be chosen
from 45 nominees. The Outstanding Teacher will receive $25,000 with the
teacher's school receiving $10,000. All 45 nominess will receive $10,000 each
with their respective schools receiving $5,000.
