The Pennsylvania Agricultural Statistics Service is a joint federal/state office
of USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) and the Pennsylvania
Department of Agriculture (PDA). The office is funded and staffed by both
federal and state resources. This cooperative arrangement is much more efficient
than operating separate and duplicate federal and state agencies to measure
Pennsylvania agriculture. Their mission is to provide timely, accurate and
useful statistics in service to Pennsylvania and U.S. agriculture.
Agricultural statistics are important in providing an accurate, unbiased picture
of Pennsylvania and U.S. agriculture. Measurement of present and prospective
supplies furnishes a sound basis for judgment and action by farmers,
agribusiness, researchers, marketing programs and agencies, which service
farmers.
The USDA-NASS Web site contains agricultural statistics, an on-line database,
reports, links to related sites and even a Kid's Page targeted to education
about agricultural topics.

Pennsylvania State University Tracks Ag Statistics by County –
“AgImpacts: The Role of Production Agriculture in the Local Economy” is a
new Penn State website that tracks economic and fiscal contributions of
production agriculture within each of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties.
The site evaluates the impact of the various counties by several standards,
including production values over time and by specialty, changes in the number
and acres of farms, the number of jobs generated by farming in each county and
assessed values of agricultural land.
